Dateline: Fri 16 Aug 2013

The managing editor of NUVO, Jim Poyser, has this to say about his new job:

"I got the opportunity to become executive director of Earth Charter Indiana, a dream come true for me as I'll be engaged -- full time -- in climate change education and activism.

"Everyone at NUVO and Indiana Living Green are being so nice about it -- they see it's a perfect fit for me.

Thanks for reaching out"

Meanwhile, the job of managing editor at NUVO is still listed. Here is the link:

I've not been able to find out much about what's going on at NUVO, although two scources speculate the independent weekly has money issues -- and who, in print journalistm, does not?

The beat goes on.

As with other print media,it's sad to see what has happened to Nuvo. I grabbed one recently and it's a shell of its former self. But,They did it to themselves. For me,they became irrelevant at the advent of blogs. I also sensed the end was near when they began writing puff pieces on behalf of guys like Jim Irsay. I don't know how much good journalism costs these days, but Nuvo should be writing about the subjects covered by the Had Enough Indy blog(as one example). If a blogger can put the time into checking the minutia of Ballard's follies why can't the so called alternative weekly do the same?

Although...Guy (husband) always talks about the series the Star did on the library boondoggle: the bad construction, blame game, etc. It was very well researched. He always says -- what blogger could afford to put that time in, do all that heavy lifting? You need an organization that will pay someone for that sort of reporting. Maybe it's out there on the horizon. I have not seen it yet. Thanks for your insight...
