Slow Food dude in Indy

Dateline: Wed 12 Jan 2011

Slow Food Indy and Ed Stites, the produce buyer for Pogues Run Grocer, want local foodies to know about a big event this Sunday; the Slow Food USA president (farmer AND Harvard grad) will be speaking at the Indiana State Fairgrounds at 1 p.m.

Here's the release from Facebook page that Ed Stites sent out:

"Josh Viertal is a farmer with philosophy and literature degrees from Harvard.

"He was hired to lead Slow Food USA in 2008 and was just named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.

"He's coming to Indy to speak on Sunday, Jan. 16, for the 1pm annual meeting of Slow Food Indy in the Farm Bureau Building on the State Fairgrounds. The event is free! Bring a dish to share for the potluck meal at 1pm...and bring your friends!"

Slow Food simply means food that is prepared the way we used to eat it ... slowly. It's real food. Here's more info:

Went to Pogue's Run Monday after Melina Kennedy's announcement. It was fantastic. Too small, but a nice start!
