Dem mayoral wannabe's go head-to-head

Dateline: Mon 25 Apr 2011

on Afternoons with Amos this Friday.

Here is the press release sent by Amos Brown and Co.

The three Democratic challengers running to face Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard, meet in their only Primary Campaign Debate this Friday, April 29th at 2pm.

The debate will be live as a special edition of Afternoons with Amos, WTLC-AM1310’s popular weekday talkshow.

Sam Carson, Ron Gibson and Melina Kennedy square off in a debate that will pattern its rules and procedures similar to those utilized in statewide debates of the Indiana Debate Commission.

For one hour the candidates will answer, in a traditional style debate, answering questions, including those submitted by listeners.

Each candidate will have ninety (90) seconds to respond to questions.  Candidates will also have two minute opening and closing statements.

This live radio debate marks the first time an Indianapolis radio station has organized and hosted a candidate debate for a major office like Mayor. And it’s the first radio only debate utilizing rules established by the Indiana Debate Commission.

Media coverage is welcomed on Friday, however for media planning to cover we ask that you adhere to these guidelines.

  • TV and still photography coverage is welcomed, but we’d like cameras in place by 1:40pm.
  • After 1:50pm, no TV or still cameras will be allowed to set-up.
  • There is room for a reporter to accompany their cameras (video or still).
  • The debate will be streamed live (audio only) on WTLC-AM’s website  Audio of the debate will be posted on the website by 4:30pm, April 29th and can be linked into respective media websites.

How exciting for the 200 people who listen to Amos at that time.

Ron Gibson for Mayor. I saw yard sign this weekend and laughed myself silly.
