Gary Moore is retiring

Dateline: Mon 07 Jun 2010

I read it on Facebook -- longtime Indianapolis News and Star photographer Gary Moore is leaving the Star, at age 67. He put in 37 years at the papers.

The folklore is that photogs are mavericks and a bit mad -- and it was true, when there was a fight, it was often in the photo lab (fists shoved thru walls, heated curses exchanged, etc).

But Gary, always a gentleman, was the exception: mild-mannered, sweet, professonal. Here's to his future.

Good for Gary! He's a class act and a real pro news shooter. Have worked several stories with him and he always made it a point to get correct spelling of names, titles.
Gary tells me he's also going to free-lance his skills, so keep him in mind,

Thanks, Joe, for the info about free-lancing...
