OK, aging hippies....remember Altamont

Dateline: Tue 15 Dec 2009

Go to the Hollywood Loser website for the perfect gift for all the sour old hippies you know -- after MSM did Woodstock nostalgia to death, how's about a couple of choice words for Altamont (free concert by the Rolling Stones; stoned Hells Angels acting as "security," and plenty of bashed heads and bloodshed -- LOSER.)

So forget the flowers and peace signs and love beads. For those who recall Altamont, it's a dove with a knife in its back.

Cute, and just in time for the holidays...

the shirt I want has a lyric from that old 70s song, Sunshine, and it goes something like this: "...he can't even run his own life, I'll be damned if he'll run mine..."

Sunshien go away today, I don't feel much like dan-sin. Some man's gone, he tried to run my life, he's got (line forgotten) he's askin...

Ah, the time when you could understand the lyrics. And many of the lyrics had a social conscience somewhat north of our zippers.

Forget Paradise, put up a parking lot......

Reminds me of a song by an acquaintance of mine who sang it at Woodstock:

And it's one-two-three what are we fightin' for?

A lot has changed since then, but some things - such as sending our teenagers off to wars thousands of miles away - have not.

All we are saying is give peace a chance. Merry Christmas and happy New Year; war is over if you want it.
