A black history lesson

Dateline: Mon 11 Sep 2006

Indiana Minority Report has published a fascinating Indianapolis history lesson by Professor John McWhorter, a senior fellow of the Manhattan Institute. His premise is that culture and not economics created today's black underclass.

While McWhorter deals with Indy, the overarching issues played out in other cities as well.

McWhorter traces the black leadership in the city as it went from those who touted self-reliance and responsibility to those who wanted to play the victim card.

Advance Indiana has a good posting on this as well. Definitely worth reading for anyone who cares about the state of the city today and the history of race relations in Indy.
